After I saw that Christine’s hair was bright red I knew that I had to photograph her on my blue backdrop. I really like the contrast of her super red hair against the blue. After taking a bunch of pictures I wanted to change things up a bit with the lighting. Many of the people that follow the blog have probably realized that I tend to shoot a lot with very soft light. For a different feel for some of the photos I wanted to try a mix of hard and soft light. You can see the results in the photo with the deep blue backdrop.

Oh and I decided to include an un-retouched shot of a bit of my setup. It’s not the complete setup… there are two lights missing from the setup… the main light from camera left (which was a hard light) and a fill light on camera right (which was soft light). I just thought including this last picture was an interesting addition to the post.

What I love about wedding and portrait photography is that I am able to create portraits that hold immense personal meaning which will last longer than we will.
