Melissa and Ryan were married on one of those absolutely gorgeous June days – blue skies, green grass, and the occasional puffy white cloud passing by. As soon as I showed up to Melissa’s parents’ house to photograph the preparations I knew this would be a very special wedding. Everyone was so excited for this day! Apparently Ryan told Melissa that he was going to marry her when they were 13! This wedding was a long time in the making, and I felt honored to be there.
Melissa and Ryan’s ceremony took place at a private residence in Gardiner, NY. Normally I like to take family photos in the shade, but alas, the site of their ceremony offered none. I scouted out the location beforehand, though, and came prepared; I brought some lights to compensate for the sun and fill in harsh shadows. I love the saturated (but not overly) quality that this gives to the photos. I also used this technique for a commercial shoot I recently shot and the results were equally stunning – be sure to check back to this blog for photos from that shoot!
Melissa and Ryan’s reception was at Hillside Manor. On our way there we stopped in New Paltz for some more pictures of the happily married couple. Their reception was lots of fun for everyone, as I’m sure you can tell from the pictures. It’s always nice when I’m editing a wedding to see faces filled with complete and total happiness. It really validates what I do!
Enjoy the pictures!
