Tara and Gary’s wedding at Hunter Mountain was way back in August (which doesn’t sound like a long time ago, but it really was!). The weather reports were threatening that day, and sure enough, about an hour before their ceremony was scheduled to start the rain started to fall. Like so many other days this year, it did not stop for some time. Tara and Gary’s wedding was relocated from the summit of the mountain to the beautiful great room at Kaatskill Mountain Club, and everything went without a hitch. Another wedding was scheduled to immediately follow Tara and Gary’s ceremony in the great room, so we opted to take the formal photos under the awning outside with the stunning (though soggy) Catskill Mountains as our backdrop. I still felt bad for Tara and Gary, though, because I remembered how much they were looking forward to getting married at the summit of the mountain. Tara and Gary are great people and a lot of fun, and I don’t like to miss opportunities to photograph, so I offered to meet them back at Hunter Mountain, ride the lift up, and take another set of formal shots of them on a beautiful day. Our crazy conflicting schedules (and also the lack of beautiful days) delayed the shoot until the autumn colors were out in full force. When they look at the pictures in years to come, I’m sure they will have no problem remembering that these pictures were taken in the fall and not on August 6!
