Allison & Jason’s Copake Country Club Wedding

I met with Allison and Jason to discuss their Copake Country Club wedding on a very cold and blustery day in Hudson, NY. Their wedding was much different… it was an absolutely gorgeous fall day. I arrived to meet Allison at her friend’s house where she and her bridesmaids were getting ready. I noticed their backyard had some amazing light so once everyone was dressed and ready to roll I gathered them outside for a couple of minutes of portraits. I really pride myself on taking as little time as possible to make sure everything is perfect in the pictures. I really want my clients’ wedding days to be spent partying with family and friends and not with a photographer fussing with lighting and settings. After just a couple of minutes I finished the portraits outside and headed over the the Copake Country Club to meet Jason and his groomsmen. After spending some time with them making photographs we went to their ceremony site (which was breathtaking!). There was plenty of time for them to mingle with guests while we awaited the start of the ceremony. After Allison arrived in an awesome vintage truck, the two exchanged vows and were officially married! On our walk to the location I selected for family photos, I saw the most amazing field to create some portraits of Allison and Jason. I asked them to pop over and stand in some tall grasses and viola! I created some really amazing nature based portraits in just a few minutes. After the family photographs were done, we headed to the cocktail hour where Allison and Jason mingled with guests. At the reception I discovered that Allison and Jason’s friends are the preeminent partiers in the Hudson Valley. I mean for reals. This was such a fun wedding!

Michelle and Dave enjoyed a beautiful afternoon Greentree Country Club wedding. The Greentree, with it’s waterfront location on the Long Island Sound, features a picturesque ceremony site by the water and an expansive reception space in an early 1900’s mansion. As they live in North Carolina, Michelle and Dave planned their New Rochelle wedding from long-distance. Their October nuptials proved warm enough to not only have the ceremony outside, but also enabled us to take lots of great photos in and around the Country Club’s landscaped grounds. Michelle and David, with their friends and family spent the afternoon with great cheer, dancing and celebration. Congratulations!

If you have spent any time looking at my work, you know that I have a special place in my heart for Mohonk Mountain House. It remains one of the most beautiful and magical places in the Hudson Valley. There are few places one can simultaneously take a step back to a simpler time, yet enjoy all of the amenities of modern times. Given my affection for this location, I was thrilled when Katelyn and Tyler selected me to document their Lake Mohonk wedding. Prior to their wedding, we met up at the hotel for an engagement session where we walked the grounds together, took some photos and got to know each other a bit.

A few short weeks later, I first met up with Katelyn and her bridesmaids, where fun and laid back preparations were already under way. Among all the primping, I met the cutest and most chill baby. The couple opted to have a first look, which we orchestrated against the backdrop of the beautiful stone of the hotel. Wedding party and family photos took place before the outdoor ceremony, which enabled Katelyn and Tyler to enjoy the company of their guests at cocktail hour. The weather was gorgeous for their garden-side ceremony. Speaking of the gardens at Mohonk; they are always so impressive, but I’ve seriously never seen them look as exquisite as they did on this day. After the ceremony Katelyn, Tyler and I meandered in the gardens for photos and even had a surprise visit from a snake! Following cocktails on the parlor porch, the wedding continued at the Sky Lake Conference House, a newer and bit more private event space. Dancing, dinner, toasts, cake (and more dancing!) ensued.
